Residence Botkyrka has been a temporary home for artists since 2010. Located on the ground floor in a high-rise residential building, the two-bedroom apartment with a kitchen and a living room, has been a place for researching and exploring new forms of art through the context of Botkyrka and beyond.

About Residence Botkyrka
Residence Botkyrka is a context-based residency program for internationally active artists, curators and architects who are interested in working site specifically. Residence Botkyrka is exploring new forms of art in the public space and is supporting projects that are hard to make without a longer stay. Residence Botkyrka wants to create good conditions for artistic freedom and develop the local participation.

Who can apply?
Artists, curators, architects, researchers, art educators or cultural workers active within an interdisciplinary field, and that are interested in connecting their practice to a specific context.

We are inviting artists throughout the year and have Open Calls for specific programmes. It is possible to send us an application describing your practice and ideas for a residence period. The applications are reviewed by Botkyrka konsthall’s team and an external reference group.

Developing Nordic Cities
During 2017-2020 we are inviting artists based in the Nordic and Baltic region (Denmark, Estonia, Finland, the Faroe Islands, Greenland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway and the Åland Islands) to the residence programme. The residence artists are supported with a stipend of 11 000 SEK/month, accommodation in Residence Botkyrka’s apartment on Krögarvägen 26 in Fittja (sometimes shared with other artists), travel and s small production budget. The programme is supported by Nordic Culture Point.

The Archive
There are numerous projects and ideas that have grown out of Residence Botkyrka’s programme since 2010. Some of them have been documented, published as books or presented through exhibitions or interventions in the public space. The archive is an ongoing activity of collecting and presenting previous events and artworks. The archive is available within the new premises of Botkyrka konsthall, as well as on this website. Please contact us if there is anything specific you are looking for, or want to know more about.
